This Privacy Policy explains how DailyFable (the “Site,” available at dailyfable.app) handles your information.
DailyFable is designed to be a small, private writing ritual. By default, your writing stays on your device and is not uploaded to us.
Questions? Email matthwfrost@gmail.com.
What: The text you write, your XP, and your streak.
Where: On your device.
Why: So you can write privately and keep your streak.
We do not upload this to our servers. Clearing your browser/site data will remove it.
What: Your email address (and, if you set it, when you want reminders).
Where: In our secure database.
Why: To send the reminders you asked for.
Legal basis: Your consent.
How to stop: Untick the email reminder options in the app, or click unsubscribe in any email, or email matthwfrost@gmail.com.
Retention: Kept until you unsubscribe/untick or ask us to delete it.
What: When you vote on a feature or mark a daily write as completed, we only increase a counter.
What we don’t keep: We don’t store your identity, email, or a device fingerprint tied to that action.
Why: To see overall interest and usage.
Abuse control: We may use light rate limiting to prevent spam, without permanently identifying you.
What: Page views, where visitors came from (e.g., campaign tags), basic device information, and clicks on major buttons.
What we never capture: Your writing or keystrokes; we don’t use session recordings.
Legal basis: Your consent. We won’t load non-essential analytics until you accept.
Opt-out: Use the cookie/consent banner or email us.
What: Standard server logs (e.g., IP address, browser type, timestamps, pages requested).
Why: To keep the Site secure and fix issues.
Legal basis: Legitimate interests (security and reliability).
Retention: Short, rolling period unless we’re investigating abuse.
We use small files on your device to remember consent choices and, if you allow it, to run basic analytics.
Your stories, XP, and streaks are saved on your device so they stay private.
You can clear cookies and site data in your browser at any time (this will reset XP/streaks and remove local stories).
We don’t sell your data. We share information only with trusted service providers who help us run DailyFable (for example: website hosting, email delivery, analytics, and our database). They may process data in the UK, EU, or US, and must protect it and use it only for our instructions.
Depending on where you live (e.g., UK/EU GDPR, California CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to:
How to exercise: email matthwfrost@gmail.com.
For data stored only on your device (stories/XP/streak), you can delete it by clearing your browser’s site data.
DailyFable is not intended for children under 13 (or older where local law requires). We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.
Email reminders: kept until you untick the options, unsubscribe, or ask us to delete them.
Analytics: kept only as long as needed to improve the site.
Server logs: short rolling window, then deleted.
Local-only data (stories/XP/streak): remains on your device until you clear it.
We use reasonable safeguards to protect the Site and our databases. No method is perfectly secure; keep your device and browser up to date.
We respect your choices shown in the cookie/consent banner. We also keep analytics minimal and never capture your writing.
If we make material changes, we’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date. If changes affect permissions you’ve given, we’ll ask for consent again where required.
